We’ve been fitting patients with gorgeous porcelain veneers for several years now, but every time we see someone’s smile transform before our eyes, we are kind of shocked. The before and afters are drastic, and it only takes three visits to go through the entire process.
Even though it’s just three easy steps, people are sometimes (understandably) cautious about the process and have some questions before committing to veneers. In this blog, we’ll go over some of the most common questions we get about porcelain veneers in Lakeview:
How much do porcelain veneers cost?
This is by far, the number one question we receive about porcelain veneers. We get it; we’re all on a budget and we can’t just shell out a bunch of money for a procedure. Unfortunately, there isn’t just one flat price we can give you.
The cost varies depending on how many teeth you’re having done and whether we’ll be doing any gum contouring or teeth whitening in addition to the veneers. Some insurance companies will cover this procedure up to 50% so you’ll definitely want to check with them first and talk to Dr. Dickinson about your specific dental concerns.
What Should I Avoid After the Procedure?
Most people can go back to eating their favorite foods pretty soon afterward, but we still recommend soft foods for a few days just to be on the safe side. Avoid caramel apples, nuts, seeds, and popcorn until you feel comfortable with your bite. Absolutely no chewing ice—but you should never be doing that anyway!
While we’re talking about things to never do, we also want to remind you that you should never chew on your silverware, open packages with your teeth, or bite your fingernails. Not only will they put your veneers at risk, but they’re also just bad habits and not good for your teeth anyway!
Does it Hurt to Get Porcelain Veneers?
We offer several sedation dentistry options for our patients, especially if you have anxiety or fear about dental procedures. On top of this, we will make sure you are completely numb before we start the procedure. If you’re just getting partial veneers, you probably won’t have any pain or soreness after the numbing agent wears off. If you’re getting a full set of veneers, you may be a little sore, but you can always take over-the-counter medications to ease the discomfort. It shouldn’t last longer than a day or two.
