Finding a new dentist can seem overwhelming, and the right dental practice will make it a streamlined process to ease your mind. Here at Sugar Fix Dental Loft, we strive to take care of all the details for you. We’ve thoroughly planned this process to ensure we have all the information we need, and can make your time with us as comfortable as possible.
Step One: Selecting an Appointment Time
Book your appointment conveniently online. Through our website, you can access our calendar and select a reservation time that suits your schedule. If you are having trouble finding an appointment time, our New Patient Coordinator can also assist you!
Step Two: Speak with our New Patient Coordinator
Once you have booked your appointment, you can expect a call from our new patient coordinator. She will give you all the info on what to expect during your first appointment and hopefully make you feel warmly welcomed to our community. She will chat with you about what brings you to our office, and get some information from you to make sure we can fully take care of your needs. If you feel more comfortable with her making your appointment for you, she can absolutely do that.
Step 3: Fill out History forms and Insurance Information.
Next up, let’s talk about the paperwork. I know, I know, filling out forms isn’t exactly glamorous, but it’s a necessary step in becoming a new patient. The good news is that we here at Sugar Fix offer online forms that you can fill out from the comfort of your own home. No more scrambling for a pen and paper in the waiting room – talk about a time-saver! We have both a medical history form and a dental history form available to you. The more you share with us, the better!
Step 4: Our dental office experience
We are all about warmth and friendliness, so when you first enter our Lakeview loft, you’ll be greeted with a smile. We also have a checklist of our Sugar Fix Goodies where you can choose which amenities are right for you… and select as many as you like!
You’ll meet Dr. Brittany personally before we begin your appointment. At that time you’ll have the opportunity to chat with her about your smile, how everything is feeling, and your goals for your health. She genuinely cares about your smile, and wants to make sure we are all on the same page and your personal needs are heard.
Next, we will gather all the information about your teeth. To do this, we’ll take a set of photos, a digital scan of your teeth and bite, and some x-rays. If you’ve had x rays sent over from your previous dentist, we may not need to take new ones! Dr. Brittany will then do a thorough examination. She likes to start with the outside, checking your jaw joint, muscles, lymph nodes, and skin. Then throat and tongue for oral cancer, as well as screening for sleep apnea. Your teeth will be checked for wear, crack lines, defective fillings, and new cavities. Your gum depths will also be recorded so we have a good baseline for what is healthy for you!
At most new patient appointments, we do have time for your teeth to be cleaned. We do set aside a full hour and a half for your New Patient Appointment, and typically this is plenty of time. That being said, when there are more extensive issues for us to delve into, we may need to schedule your cleaning separately.
Step 5: Review your Goals and How to Achieve Them
After gathering all this information about your smile, we analyze the current state of your teeth vs where you want to be. We have a private room for you to sit and talk openly about your options to achieve these goals, timing, pricing etc. We encourage you to ask as many questions as you have- we promise we love questions! And work with you to curate a customized plan that you are excited about.
So there you have it – becoming a new patient at our Chicago practice doesn’t have to be a hassle. Since you’ve done your research and due diligence, you’ll find that Dr. Brittany and the Sugar Fix Team makes taking care of your smile easy and convenient. And remember, a healthy smile is a happy smile!
Until next time, keep shining those pearly whites!
Xoxo,
The Sugar Fix Team
